My early exposures to Eastern Philosophy and to Western innovations in art have greatly influenced my perspective as an artist.
I create from memory and imagination to inspire a new truth in my artworks. A departure from realism allows me the space to gain the perspective to communicate in a more relevant way the truth as I see it. For me, at that point, the ideas become sharper.
I was born in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan in 1958. At the age of eleven, I studied at the Moscow Surikov School of Visual Arts graduating in 1976 and received my Masters from the Moscow Surikov Academy of Fine Arts in 1982. I moved to the United States in 1994 and currently reside in Lincoln, Nebraska.
